Domain Concepts
Domains are generic definitions, or patterns, for fields and work fields that share a set of common attributes. These attributes include such things as the physical space a field occupies, the set of values it can contain, and the way a field is presented to a user.
It is important to distinguish between a domain and a field. A domain is simply a pattern or set of common attributes for one or more fields. It is a design component that stores field specifications, not application data. Fields store data in APPX applications according to the pattern established by the domain the field is based on, if any, in the data dictionary (or according to the individual field specifications if not based on a domain).
